Thomas Tuchel speaks about N'Golo Kante being targeted by Manchester United
Chelsea midfielder Ngolo Kante has recently been linked with Manchester United (MU). The new manager of the Red Devils, Erik ten Hag, reportedly intends to hijack Kante from the Blues in the summer.
In the midst of news of MU interest, Chelsea tactician Thomas Tuchel spoke about Kante's position in the squad. He emphasized that the player is still an important figure for his team at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel assesses Kante's role at the Blues is on par with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool. Therefore, it is a miracle for Tuchel because the Chelsea squad is still ranked third in the standings, despite often playing without N'Golo Kante this season.
"I think he (N'Golo Kante) is a key for us, a key player who has to be on the pitch. In only playing 40 percent of the games (with Chelsea), it's a miracle we can arrive in third place (the Premier League table)," said Tuchel, quoted from Goal.com.
"He is our Mo Salah, our Van Dijk, our De Bruyne. He is that kind of player. He is Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to us. He is someone who can make a difference," continued the 48-year-old coach.
Launching Goal.com, Kante is often seen as a central figure in Thomas Tuchel's game system at Stamford Bridge. He is also recorded as having won a number of trophies, ranging from the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup, Super Cup and FA Cup during his six-year career with the Blues.
Unfortunately, the French player has only been able to make 25 appearances from a total of 37 Premier League games this season, due to being plagued by injury problems. He will also run out of contract in June 2023.
Manchester United is one club that is willing to accommodate Kante if the player is reluctant to extend his stay in West London. The Mirror report claims Ten Hag has identified Kante as the ideal figure to add to United's strength in midfield.
As is known, the Red Devils midfield is often in the spotlight. His players, Fred and Scott McTominay, are also in a difficult situation. No wonder the Dutch coach is interested in recruiting new players in order to improve the performance of the MU squad.
Apart from midfielders, Ten Hag also intends to sign a new defender. The reason is, a number of players such as Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Axel Tuanzebe are likely to be kicked out of Old Trafford at the end of this season.
Instead, United will recruit one or two new central defenders. The Bild report says Ten Hag is currently eyeing Eintracht Frankfurt's young defender, Evan N'Dicka. The 22-year-old managed to steal the attention of Ten Hag after performing brilliantly with his club.

Kante's Response
N'Golo Kante is reluctant to comment on the continuation of his career. Moreover, he still has one year on his contract with Chelsea. For now, the former Caen player admits he still wants to focus on the Blues' last match in the Premier League.
For information, Thomas Tuchel's squad will play the final match against Watford this weekend. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday (22/5/2022) evening WIB at Stamford Bridge.
"The only thing that is certain is that I (still) have one more year on my contract (with Chelsea). That's not a concern for me," Kante said regarding his future at the Blues, as reported by Football365.
"The only thing (on my mind) is to finish the season well. I will think about that (career continuation) at the right time, but I just want to finish the season as best as I can."
